About us...

The Orchard Counselling Service was established in 2014 by a team of Accredited Mental Health Social Worker’s, passionate about working therapeutically and collaboratively with people. Today we offer counselling via Medicare (GP referral), Victim of Crime and Open Arms programs, or by private arrangement (including some Health funds). We also provide supervision to other practitioners and can deliver groups and training.

We are a collective of skilled and experienced therapists. This expertise has been gained through work in the areas of Community Health, Sexual Assault, Mental Health, Adolescent and Family Counselling, Dementia Care, Gender and Sexuality, Addictions, Palliative Care, Centrelink and hospitals. We have provided services to people across the life span, and to those who have experienced a wide range of life complexities, so we are skilled and experienced in our craft. In addition to individual, couples and family counselling, we have provided case management and court support, facilitated groups and workshops and published articles. We have established a close relationship with the University of Newcastle Social Work Program as lecturers, academics and student supervisors.

It is important to us that we provide service which is respectful, ethical and responsive to an individuals unique lived experience. We aim to ensure that all of our interactions are protective of a persons dignity, identity, self determination and is sustaining of wellbeing. We warmly welcome ATSI, LGBTIQ and people of all faiths, culture and ethnicities.
